One of the advantages of the upper-year physics courses is that you can pick and choose which experiments are of particular interest to you. However, there are some experiment which naturally follow from each other.
- The Experiments Coaxial CableCoaxial Cable, Optical Fiber, and Waveguides deal with the propogation of electo-magnetic radiation across the different regimes of radio frequency, microwave frequency, and optical frequencies.
- The experiment Electron Spin Resonance and Zeeman Effect tie nicely together through the concept of electron spin.
- He-Ne lasers provides a nice background on Gaussian beam propagation which is expanded upon in the Fourier Optics experiment.
- If you are interested in high-energy physics then Gamma Ray Spectroscopy and Johnson Noise may be of interest.
- If you are interested in atomic phyiscs, then Electron Spin Resonance, Rutherford Scattering II, Zeeman Effect, and Mass Spectrometer would be of interest.
