In this session we will cover the search tools available to search the physics literature.

  1. How to choose a database or abstracting/indexing service.
  2. How to access search tools using a subject pathfinder.
  3. How to search library resources from home.
  4. What are descriptors and controlled keywords? How to choose keywords from your lab manual to select references.
  5. How to search both the current and early literature on the topic.

Marked Assignment: Search a suitable database to identify two articles suitable for including in your lab report (Expt. 2). One must be recent and the other historical. Send the link to your instructor (dcraig@yorku.ca) and print out the bibliography in Physical Review Letters format to be handed in for the next class.
